Aurora police arrested a 14-year-old suspect in a shooting and grappled a fleeing pickup truck involved in the crime.
Officers saved the shooting victim, a man, from bleeding to death early Saturday at Sand Creek Park, police said.
The youth, a male, is a resident of Denver.
"Investigators determined shots were fired from a red pickup toward a group in the park," police said. "Using license plate readers and surveillance cameras, officers located the truck about two hours later and recovered a firearm.
"Several minutes after the truck was stopped, the 14-year-old approached an officer at the original scene and admitted to the shooting," police said.
The youth is facing charges of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and possession of a handgun by a juvenile, police said.
