A former deputy armed with an assault weapon blasted the entry way of the Boulder County Sheriff's Office early Monday, authorities said.
No one was injured and the man - apparently suffering from a psychiatric condition - was arrested without incident without gaining access to the building on Flatiron Parkway.
Investigators also suspect he fired shots outside Broomfield police headquarters on Descombes Drive. No injuries were reported there.
The former deputy "resigned on May 25, 2024, in lieu of termination for cause," the sheriff's office said.
