Three family members were killed in the crash of a small aircraft near Swampy Pass in Gunnison County, the county coroner said Sunday.
The accident occurred Saturday in "a remote wilderness area" and "circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation," the coroner's office said.
The victims were identified as Mark Hendrickson, 46, Alan Hendrickson, 15, and Case Hendrickson, 13, all of New Castle in Garfield County.
"The Hendrickson family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the respect, compassion, and support they have received following this devastating tragedy," the coroner's office said.
The Gunnison County Sheriff's Office said the crash site was off Ohio Creek Road. 911 operators received a call reporting the crash at 9:20 a.m. Saturday.
The National Transportation Safety Board, which is investigating the accident, identified the aircraft as a Piper PA-28-235, a single-engine type.
