FORT MORGAN PLANE CRASH VICTIM NAMED; OFFICIALS NOW SAY 'NOT ASSERTING' SHE WAS PILOTING

UPDATE

Morgan County authorities identified the flier killed in Sunday's mid-air collision at Fort Morgan Airport as
Kristen Connell Morris, 35, of Denver. In a news update issued Wednesday, the Morgan County sheriff's office said: "Ms. Morris is an experienced pilot; but we are not asserting that she was in control of this aircraft at the time of the crash." In an earlier statement, the sheriff's office identified her as the pilot.

Morris was a member of the International Aerobatic Club, the organization said on its web page.

Three other people were injured when two small aircraft collided, crashed and burned while attempting to land at the rural airfield, about 80 miles northeast of Denver. It has no control tower.
