POLICE BLOTTER: GREELEY COPS, FEDS ROUND UP 4 SUSPECTS; BRIGHTON DRUG BUST; DENVER MURDER ARREST

UPDATE

Blaring noise through special sound equipment and lobbing chemical munitions, local police and federal agents rounded up four suspects locked in a home and garage in Greeley accused of "rampant criminal activity," police said Friday.

The harrowing incident unfolded in the 1300-block of 11th Avenue as authorities attempted to serve a warrant on Thursday.

"
The use of the chemical munitions proved effective as suspects from an upper level of the house surrendered, as did several who had been hiding inside the attic of the garage," Greeley police said.

In a separate incident in Greeley, a number of residents received
sexual abuse material through the postal service on Sept. 3 with blackmail demands, police said. The letters apparently originated in Canada.

In Denver, police announced the arrest of a juvenile suspect accused of fatal shooting another youth in the 1100-block of North Syracuse Street Sept. 6. In Brighton, police stopped a car with fake temporary tags Friday and seized more than 30 grams of methamphetamine. The driver was arrested on a warrant. In Summit County, deputies are investigating racist graffiti on the historic Wellington Ore Bin, located in French Gulch near Breckenridge.

In Sterling in northeast Colorado, authorities arrested a suspect who stabbed and seriously injured man during a "confrontation" Thursday night on Franklin Street. The victim was transferred to a hospital in Denver.
