POLITICAL TURMOIL AS CRIME RATE RISES IN FEDERAL HEIGHTS, DENVER 7 REPORTS

Denver 7 reports the Federal Heights police and firefighter unions issued a vote of no confidence in the city manager amid rising crime rates.

Data show that over the past year theft is up
26.3%, domestic violence is up 20.7%, and assaults are up 57.4%, the TV station reports. The number of sexual assaults, however, is down.

The city manager, Jacquie Halburnt, told Denver 7: "As this is a personnel issue, I am unable to discuss it” though she reported an outside, third-party is reviewing the situation.

Halburnt - a military veteran who served during the first Gulf War - has been city manager since 2012, according to the Federal Heights website.
The population of Federal Heights, located in Adams County, is about 14,000.
