EDGEWATER COP SHOT MAN WHO PULLED GUN, OPENED FIRE

UPDATE

An Edgewater police officer shot a man who emerged from a wrecked GMC Yukon, pulled a gun and opened fire Saturday, police said.

The man, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was taken to a hospital in critical condition. He was shot at least once.

The shooting occurred after the Yukon collided with a Honda and crashed into a garage over the city line with Wheat Ridge. The Yukon driver, a woman, sustained crash injuries. The Honda driver was also hurt.

The Edgewater officer had been following the Yukon, not chasing it. The scene of the shooting was in the vicinity of West 32nd Avenue and Pierce Avenue.
