'A LITTLE BIRD TOLD ME': SHARING SECRET AT DENVER ZOO
Two coconut lorikeets pecked out of their eggs at the Denver Zoo over Christmas week. "Lorikeet chicks hatch featherless, with closed eyes and rely entirely on their parents for their first few weeks of life," the zoo said. "They grow quickly and typically fledge in about eight weeks. "Now just over a month old, these two are developing well and remain safely tucked away in their parents' nest box behind the scenes," the zoo said. Coconut lorikeets are native to the South Pacific.
