Three puppies and two adult dogs were discovered living in the ruins of a vacant, burned-out home near Evans.
An animal control officer "heard puppy squeaks coming from under the floorboards," according to the Weld County Sheriff's Office.
The rescue occurred in late April after a neighbor reported the two adults wandering the area. The property owner said the dogs weren't his and gave the animal control officer permission to enter the dwelling.
The canines were transported to an animal shelter - "another doggone great rescue in the books," the sheriff's office said.
