DENVER SHUTS DOWN CLUB AFTER MASS SHOOTING AS OWNER SAYS 'PRAY FOR OUR COMMUNITY'

UPDATE

Denver city officials Wednesday shut down the Ultra Lounge East, scene of a shootout that killed one person and injured eight others.

The city's emergency closure order cited "ongoing incidents of significant violence and failure to be properly licensed."

The gunfire erupted early Monday at the venue located at
9755 East Hampden Avenue - the third violent incident this year, according to officials.

Police Chief Ron Thomas said the shooting may have stemmed from a confrontation elsewhere.

At least two people fired 66 rounds, The Denver Post reported.

The building was previously occupied by the Yak and Yeti buffet restaurant, which closed about a year ago. Yak and Yeti management leased the building to the club.

A post on the club's Facebook page said: "Pray for our community."
