NEIGHBOR WIELDING GARDEN HOSE SAVES A HOME FROM FIRE

In the Western Slope community of Crawford, good neighbor Tim Lucas grabbed a garden hose and extinguished a fire at his neighbors' home while they slept.

By the time firefighters arrived, the blaze was out and Lucas had driven off to work.

"Without his fast response, the fire could have spread from the porch to the rest of the house," the fire department said. "Tim left before we had a chance to thank him in person."

Lucas also called 911 and banged on a door to alert the snoozing occupants during this week's fire. No one was hurt.
