Authorities halted I-70 traffic into the Eisenhower Tunnel to rescue a wayward cat who escaped by squeezing through an open truck window.
"The cat, Bones, spent some time cuddling with our tunnel operations staff before being reunited with his owner," the Colorado Department of Transportation said.
The frisky feline was spotted on the tunnel's traffic cameras on the eastbound side after a call from a passing motorist.
Owner Abby Hagstrom told 9 News she didn’t realize Bones was missing until stopping for gas near Denver - about 60 miles away - and going into "crazy cat mom mode."
Thankfully for all, Bones was wearing an Apple AirTag showing his escape route. Sunday's tunnel shutdown lasted about eight minutes, authorities said.
