Deputies arrested Anthony Brown-Wright, 33, accused of catfishing two transgender people on a dating app, arranging meetups - and then trapping and threatening them in a white GMC Yukon, the Larimer County Sheriff's Office said Thursday.
"Deputies are still working to determine if the suspect intentionally targeted them based on their gender identity," officials said. "Due to the similarity in the cases, deputies are concerned that other victims may exist."
Misrepresenting one's identity online is called catfishing. The crimes occurred Aug. 22 and Aug. 31 and the suspect was arrested Aug. 31.
If you have information, call Deputy Megan Job at (970) 577-2085 or Crime Stoppers of Larimer County at (970) 221-6868.
Larimer County Sheriff John Feyen said: “Consent is always necessary. That’s true whether you’re in a committed relationship or a casual meetup ... We understand how someone might feel uncomfortable reporting an incident like this, and I really want to thank the two people who came forward. If you’ve experienced something similar, please let us know."
