BALD EAGLE RECOVERING FROM SHOOTING IN NORTHGLENN
A bald eagle - symbol of American freedom - is on the mend after a shooting in Northglenn, Colorado Parks and Wildlife said Monday.
"X-rays showed the eagle had been shot in the wing with a ball bearing," officials said. "The eagle underwent surgery to remove the metal projectile, and it is recovering at the rehabilitation facility."
Rangers and animal wardens rescued the eagle from the icy shoreline at Croke Reservoir, near West 104th Avenue and Huron Street on Jan. 12. There was no word on suspects.
Bald eagles are a federally and state protected species.
